For those that go to Otakon, Piano Squall did a concert there in 2005. He's done over 30 anime conventions.

Same with this one.

So... since I haven't posted here since I went back to school, that doesn't mean I haven't been keeping up with everyone's LJ. I still come and read to see what you guys are up to :)

I can't come back to FFXI because it's just too much of a time commitment and I can barely get through my days. I haven't been able to sit down and play a game of my choosing in a very long time. Now that I'm officially DONE with school, my job also keeps me relatively busy so it feels like I'm still doing homework. But it's an awesome job and I can't complain, even if it takes me 2 hours each way to get there.

I work at IGN as a freelancer, uploading media for the editorial team because they're always so swamped with work. On the side I've been given assignments to write. I first review went live yesterday!  http://pc.ign.com/articles/863/863003p1.html

I'm also working on a feature article related to game music so I hope that is something that people will enjoy reading because if it does well, I can probably continue to write in that area.

It's so hard for me to keep blogs, but I think I'm going to need to and start updating more frequently :p I will probably write about games and work related stuff on this one: http://blogs.ign.com/soapymoose

I hope that everyone is still having fun with FFXI, and that the others who might actually read this are doing well too.

I don't feel like I should be updating this thing since I have since quit playing FFXI.... I realized that I have too many blogs, online journals scattered all over the place, so I'm trying to consolidate into one blog!

http://soapymoose.blogspot.com is my personal blog which I'll try to keep more or less updated about work/school/stuff. It's also tied to another blog where I keep my school newspaper articles.

Anyways, I don't know if I'll play FFXI again. I hear people have quit or are quitting, I think it's kind of getting old.... although I might be doing a study on MMOs as an independent study and some of professors are interested in that side of gaming, so I may take up FFXI or WoW for "research" ;)

Meanwhile I've been super busy with school, and next quarter I have 6 classes lined up where 5 of them are writing classes. I've also been writing for the school paper every week and I contribute to a couple of online review sites. For about 2 hours I thought about doing a masters in journalism and then wondered what I had been smoking. I'm finally into the swing of things but I think I just want to get this over with.

www.myarcadeplanet.com just started and is very Xbox 360 focused right now. It has a lot of interesting forum features that I wish I knew how to do. It would be fun for Garuda...  although most people are too busy playing to bother with forums I imagine.

To end this... some awesome news: TMNT comes out Friday :D I'm excited!!

Ok so I'm really late with the new years thing and I haven't posted anything in awhile. I hope everyone had a good holiday and made some good new years resolutions. Mine's the same one every year... to start working out on a regular basis :P There was a period of a month where I was running, but then the cold weather started and it rained and then I just stopped. I'm going to Mexico for a bachlorette party in a couple of weeks and school starts up again.

I guess it's fairly obvious that I don't really play FFXI anymore. I usually log on for limbus runs only but I just don't have the time to devote to a game moderate playing doesn't get you anywhere. I also don't care for leveling or acquiring gear in any type of game, so FFXI wasn't really built for players like me. School actually requires work to get good grades, I guess that's a given but I never realized how much work I didn't do before :p Since I'm trying to take school somewhat seriously, it really eats up a lot of time, and the other spare time is spent writing for a review site and doing the million of other hobbies I have besides games. I honed my knitting skills over the holidays and I think I'll take up crotcheting :D I can just see the strange looks now, I'll be the nerd in the class with bright purple hair in baggy pants and sweatshirts knitting.

I got my brother and sister Nintendo DSes for Christmas and my friend in Canada got one too. 4 player DS games are awesome, I just wish I had friends here that owned DSes. I accumulated a lot of games over the holidays, some which I haven't really touched... I played a lot of Tetris DS and Mario vs Donkey Kong 2. I love my DS.

Best wishes to everyone for the upcoming year. I'm looking forward to it. I have a full year of school ahead of me, possible summer internship at a gaming studio, a few weddings, one that I'll be in. I went dress shopping with my best friend and I think we picked out the bridesmaids dresses. I'm excited to wear it. Granted I'm not the bride, I'm pretty excited about how good I'm going to look in that dress, lol.

This is the first time in a long time where I actually look forward to the day to day that will be ahead of me. I think work zapped a lot of my optimism and will to live :p Just kidding, I did like some aspects of working, but doing a job you hate is draining. I'm not in love with school either, but at least I feel like I'm learning and being productive. I'm going to hate it when midterms and presentations start piling up, but it'll pay off. (supposedly)

Anyways, back to playing the pile of games I need to get through. Oh, and if you have a PSP, you MUST get LocoRoco. The best game EVER. www.locoroco.com

I think I managed to get my non-gamer friends to want to a PSP with this game. Guys and girls alike, find this game absolutely hilarious. Just go to the site and listen to the music, it's catchy!

I finally got a chance to finish FFXII today. Even though I clocked in at about 57 hours, I still felt that it was short (weird I know) considering every other FF game ends around 30 hours with a lot more leveling. Although I did spend a good chunk of time leveling, farming and doing side hunts so that the last boss was pretty easy. I enjoyed it, although I keep reading that people think the story is slow to start... I thought it jumped in really quickly and then tapered off a little.

I finished just in time to go play Zelda on the Wii ;) Actually I haven't started, I think I need to do my homework first since I've been neglecting that all weekend and prepare for our big thanksgiving potluck. Our house is seriously a mess and Rhea actually refuses to get a housekeeper :p

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last month I donated bone marrow to aashoa in a life-saving procedure (300 points). In March I caught a purse-snatcher who stole verrick's purse (30 points). Last Thursday I pulled blazingpigtails's hair (-5 points). In May I didn't flush (-1 points). Last week I bought porn for net_drifter (10 points).

Overall, I've been nice (334 points). For Christmas I deserve a Wii!

Neither can my friend who decided to come over this weekend and hog the PS2 :P Although I have a midterm I should be studying for... but it's very hard to focus >< Anyways, the game is awesome, I'm level 19ish right now. I think I need to find better ways to make money since I'm always broke. I heard chaining is a good way to get some loot but I'm too lazy to do that and I always forget to steal. I'd set up gambits to steal but uh.. no money to buy that either... hehehe.

I have enough homework to keep me busy forever, but I am procrastinating so badly, I even turned on FFXI only to find that server maintenance is going on :( I didn't want to study theory so I even tried leveling summoner yesterday to 8... then back to 7 before giving up. I'm running out of homework to do in my other classes, I'm just avoiding this ONE! Why is it so boring and makes no sense at all. >< I mean, wtf is meta-theoretical underpinnings of the study of communication?! who TALKS like that.
